The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is making strides, moving students, Faculty and the institution as a whole onto a pedestal of creativity. Dwelling on projecting the ideals of firm communication, the department has been touted as instilling in students the right skills that make good communicators. The department is unique in its way of combining corporate communication and journalism with all aspects of mass communication - the internet, cinema, radio, print and television, thus making the journalism programme attractive.
Built on the tenet of a household, the department serves as a close unit that provides a platform for students to realise their unique intellectual potentials. Through research, debates, presentation of papers, and other activities, there is the stimulation of intellectual discourse in the department which ensures the holistic development of students into socially relevant graduates with independent minds and good judgment on all social issues. Media lab is the new addition to the journalism department which is given the practical exposure to the students about radio, recording, interviewing skills etc. Media lab has been well appreciated by the students and the lecturers from the department.
